Two brothers, Lagos traditional ruler’s son sentenced to death by hanging over murder

The son of the Baale of Mafoluku – Oshodi, in Lagos State, Ibrahim Omilade, alongside two siblings, Shola and Kayode Oni were Tuesday sentenced to death by hanging for the alleged murder of one Suleiman Afolabi.

The trio were said to have committed the offence during a fight on Christmas day in 2012 on Eyin Ogun Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, when Suleiman was attacked with a machete.

The chief judge, Justice Kudirat Jose of the Lagos High Court, in her judgement relied on the evidence before the court presented by both the prosecution counsel, Mr.

Babatunde Oguntemowo and Mr. Olarewaju Ajanaku, to pass judgement for the murder.

“I pronounce the defendants guilty in respect of the charge of murder and conspiracy.

“They shall be sentenced to death, hanged by the neck until their death,” the judge ruled, cautioning youths to learn from the fate that befell the convicts and noted that young people should be careful of going about attacking people.
