Buhari approves appointment of Ejembi Eko, Augie as Supreme Court justices


President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Justices Ejembi Eko and Amina Augie as Supreme Court judges.

The Supreme Court Acting Director, Information, Soji Oye, made this known in a statement on Friday.

NJC had earlier recommended the two candidates to the President.

According to Oye, the two Justices who were formerly of the Court of Appeal will be sworn in on Monday by the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, who retires on November 10.

The statement read in part, “The two honourable justices will be sworn-in by the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed, GCON, on Monday 7th November, 2016 at 2.00 pm in the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”
