Super Eagle will beat opponents home and away in 2018 world cup qualifier
Former Nigeria international, Clement Temile, says if the Super Eagles remain consistent in the course of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, they will mesmerize the teams in their group.
The Eagles boosted their campaign by recording a huge 2-1 away win in Ndola, Zambia last weekend to go top of Group B on three points ahead of Algeria and Cameroon who drew 1-1.
Temile, who was among the team that came second at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations, told Complete Sports that if the Eagles can maintain their current form, they will be difficult to stop in their World Cup qualifying group.
He said, “The Eagles must be consistent with the form they are in now.
“The enthusiasm in the team is so high that if they keep it up, there is no team that will stop them, both home and away.”
He however, advised the team handlers to work on the team’s defence.
He added, “As we all know it’s just the first game and I’m happy that we won but our defence needs to be touched up a little bit.”
“From the midfield to the attack, they were just fantastic, we just need to put in some finishing touches in the defence line.”
The Eagles will be up against the Desert Warriors at home next month and the former Bendel Insurance player expressed confidence that the Eagles will secure the three points, maintaining that the failure to secure the 2017 AFCON qualifying ticket to Egypt will motivate them.
Temile added, “Algeria will come to Nigeria and lose by not just two goals but three goals.
“The fact that a North African team (Egypt) stopped us from qualifying for next year’s Africa nations Cup is still fresh in our memory and I believe the Eagles will want to avenge that loss.”
