Shells company representative received in Abuja by Buhari

– President Buhari received representatives of Shell Company in Abuja

– He assured that the country will soon be restored to its glory

– Buhari was applauded for his fight against corruption and economic policies

President Muhammadu Buhari has met with Global Upstream of Shell Oil Company and promised that Nigeria will be returned to the good old days of accountability.

This is coming after the Niger Delta Avengers claimed responsibility for the bombing of a top pipeline in Escravos offshore in the early hours of Tuesday, October 25 as a warning to the Nigerian government ahead of their proposed negotiations.

The president received the representative of Shell at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, October 25.

In a statement by Garba Shehu, the spokesperson of Buhari, the president said that he would leave a legacy of improved infrastructure, particularly in the power sector, and ensure better security in the Niger Delta.

“It is only by doing this that investor morale and confidence will return, and the economy will be positioned on the path of growth.”
President Buhari applauded the company for its staying power and said the issues raised will be addressed.

He said the “security of oil infrastructure will continue to be prioritized side-by-side with the dialogue with stakeholder-communities in the Niger Delta.”

Buhari also called on oil companies to also support the navy in their effort to maintain peace and security in the Niger Delta region.

Mr. Andrew Brown who is the director of Shell informed the president of the resumption of oil exportation through the Forcados terminal following its restoration.

He also called for more security in the face of continued attack by militants.
Brown applauded President Buhari’s anti-corruption war and expressed optimism in the economic plans in place which he believed will also help the company in the long run.
